(1)  is it necessary to convey a box boundary if I am going to set the mattress on the flooring w/out a frame?

Hi Christy,

No. You don't require a boxspring. The role of the boxspring is to back upwards the mattress at a convenient height. There's no improve back upwards for the mattress than the floor. 

These mattresses are ane sided too unsleepable on the bottom side...much besides stiff. 

For a kid to grow upwards on, it's no less than a dandy mattress.
